Florence
Florence is the capital of the Tuscany region. The city has about 460 thousand inhabitants. Most of the city is located on the right side of the Arno River, 280 km north of Rome and 115 km from the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The city hid among the picturesque hills - the foothills of the Apennines. Before the arrival of the Romans here lived the Etruscans, which the Romans called melancholy. Therefore Tuscany is also called Etruria, the country of the Etruscans. Florentines consider themselves the most "correct" Italians. Even literary Italian was born on the basis of Tuscan dialect thanks to the great Dante Alighieri.
